how does a Mom stop her child from cutting himself? I have tried everthing I can think of to get him to stop and it hurts EVERY time he cuts or burns himself....He is a wonderful young man and the scars he has on his body from his self-injury... we have him in Therapy..we have brough him to the emergency room I have even been a part of a organization that just started this year called Its Real Lets Heal...I am so scared for my son...

As somebody who has gone through the same thing I can tell you what helped me the most. Having someone to talk to when I felt terrible. I couldn't talk to my mom or my therapist, for reasons i still can't understand, it's just too embarresing to talk about with them, so I confided in my best friend who cared so much about me and helped me get through it, who talked to me whenever I needed it. Tell your son that if he can't talk to you or his therapist about it, to talk to a friend.

do you know when the interviews were taken(as in what year) and where did you find them? are there any more, explaining some of the other songs?

I'm not exactly sure what year, it must have been around the time of the Argue With a Tree dvd, because that's where i got them off of. And i have ones explaining the songs off of Approaching Normal (like the Dirt Room one i have up) but im waiting to see if they put those up themselves before i put them up, dont want it to look like i just stole them from there lol

@craigswife0727 therapy isnt the way to go ma'am i got put in therapy and it made things worse... he just needs someone he can confide in and an outlet of some form... i found music and guitar as my outlet... watever your son loves to do as a passion he needs to do it alot more wen he feels bad instead of harming him self

@craigswife0727 I'd say that it's more important that you try and help your son coping with the feelings that are bringing him to cut, rather than just getting him to stop cutting. Cutting is a coping method, and you can't just take it away or everything will get worse. You have to deal with the bigger issues and then it will most likely stop by itsself. Be there for him, be easy on him and try to help him through any troubles he has.

I never realized how much I had in common with him. I have been to several therapists, but I cannot seriously open up to them at all about anything. Same with both of my parents and all of my family. Only 1 friend I have ever been able to open up to but they dont exactly know how to react. She is everything to me.
