How To break down a shipping pallet

I have broken up old pallets to use the wood in various projects, I carefully dismantle it using a crowbar (pinchbar/wrecking bar) and claw hammer. That way I retain all wooden planks as long as possible, also the nails can be gently removed, and often straightened and re-used. I don't have a saw like yours and guess that replacement blades would cost a fair bit of money (maybe they are cheap in the USA). Note to all...when using power tools ensure to wear hearing & eye protection. Cheers

Well, if you have that angry strong tool..., then you can do it.
But why cut those nice pieces of wood in half?
And you surely need to consider your security measures:
== The pallet is not firm, it may move suddenly, and your strong tool might cut your hands.
== You are allowing the pieces of wood that fall on the ground to pile up. This makes for even less stable and firm pallet, and also for less stable and firm grounding of your legs.

@VictorFumis try using just a hammer on some heat treated pallets with spiral nails and all you get is a bunch of busted up pieces...

I have a lo-tech way of doing this, without leaving in the nail heads, yours is a lot faster. Nice video.

Did you separate the wood slats from the 2 outer cross pieces and pre cut the nails before you started video taping?
i've cut up many pallets like that and it's never gone that fast.

You can build a table out of pallets that will help u cut faster and still leave u with full length boards. Google pallet table.

Why would you cut every piece of wood in half? It would seem like you could get a lot more use out of pallet wood if it were in full size pieces.
