Size isn't a big deal as long as the brushes are big enough or small enough. I pretty much like anything from 12x16 to 20 x 30

thank you for your videos, I am just learning to paint & you have helped me alot. What kind of brush do you use for blending..really soft?

Blending really depends on what you're after, if it's just a background, use a large brush with soft bristles and a light touch. The softness depends on hair length. If you feel a house painting brush, the bristles are both soft and long. I like something stiffer than that.
If you're blending a small area, use the edges of a fan brush with light strokes. Fan brushes are shorter so you'll need the bristles to be softer.
It all comes down to experimenting and figuring out what you like.
