  • the one remaining and nagging question of this whole film that needs to be asked is why wasn't another person chosen to experience the device? it appears that the second device was NOT damaged during ellie's "trip"? the book also has some unanswered questions.

  • 2:21 : she's clearly talking about DMT!

  • Government would do exactly that if seti ever detected alien life, signals, etc. whatever. They would try to discredit the scientists and the research and write it all off as a hoax.

  • Best part of the Movie.

  • @SocratesTheGadfly On this we agree.

  • @bantyhenrants I will concede that there is a dual dichotomy regarding mankind in which we have the beautiful works of mozart, bernocilli, da vinci, shania twain and chaplin. but within the same breath there is the evil of stalin, jack the ripper, caligula, attila and hitler. my instinct as a scientist though tells me that life on other planets is just as much as struggle for survival just as much it has been for the human race. peace.

  • @SocratesTheGadfly I never read the book because I was never a fan of Sagan. I was a Psych major, so I never spent a lot of time thinking about life on other planets. I was too busy thinking about life on this one. Earthlings are so screwed up that I think, if there is life on other planets, I hope they are doing better than we are.

  • James Woods is always the go-to guy when you need a massive dick in your movie.

  • Our brother and stars sisters are real and they will reveled to humanity in the next monts!!!

  • @bantyhenrants I will concede on Carl Sagan but to be honest, I really do not know. I may be biased based upon my background, education and training as an engineer and having broad studies in physics, chemistry and astronomy. Furthermore, I may have to read the book again because if memory serves me well the movie did not quite parallel the book exactly. At this point I will have to say I just do not know.

  • @SocratesTheGadfly Its nice to know you agree on most points, but I'm pretty sure Sagan was an Atheist. If you have evidence otherwise please let me know.

  • @bantyhenrants You kind of wonder: Repeating primes is a definite sign of intelligence. But DNA happened simply as a result of causality? The skeptic may believe that, their prerogative. I don't.
