  • Well done, Bill. First with the news! Slightly surprised you went for a station shot on the outward, but it works OK. The last shot is my favourite, though. It gives a great impression of speed, with those small wheels, though I don't suppose it was really more than 50mph, possibly less.

  • Thanks Mark. Time was marching on, I didn't know the area and hadn't found a suitable location, so I had to settle for Shirley. On reflection I should have gone to Earlswood, as I wouldn't have had that unit and tamper in the frame then.

  • Thanks for all the comments everyone.

I agree it is fantastic to see a pannier on the mainline at speed, just wished I could have been on board tonight. Must make sure I get out on the 14th for Ironbridge.

I take it that this video plays ok for you all. I'm having a problem, it seems to 'stick' as 9600 just after passes under the bridge in the first shot. It continues to load but will not play past this point. Anyone any idea's?

  • Great vid, 5*. I was at Earlswood and Danzey stations. For the record I believe it's a 5700 class.

  • You are of corse correct, that'll teach me for copying & pasting

  • wow that look wicked, you normally see tender engines but seeing a tank engine is just so different I love it

p.s core how many is in that cab lol

  • I think you are right . No optical illusion there.

  • Excellent shots especially panoramic view - excellent loco !

  • Great vid TU :-)

Is it an optical illusion [ ? :-) ] but that little Pannier tank seems to be going about the same speed - if not faster - than an XPT?????? Well, in my mind's eye, that is!!!!

  • There is more poetry in the rush of a single

railroad train across the continent than in

all the gory story of burning Troy ............

  • 1:48 lol, just add some runaway trucks behind her and we got a re-enactment from the scene "a close shave" :P

  • At least at the begging the end it might be going 50.

  • It depends the top speed of most pannier tanks are 55-60 MPH, but it's not going top speed from the turns and hills.
