ACORN vs. Firefighters

At an October 21st House committee meeting, Congressman James Sensenbrenner lays the Constitutional smackdown on Democrat Representative Alan Grayson for defending ACORN and its receipt of a grant intended for fire departments. After his hypocrisy on the issue was exposed, Grayson resorts to changing the subject to the War in Iraq (3:00 minute mark).

Actually, it wasn't only AIG; Goldman Sachs was also targeted, along with a few major financial institutions. As it targeted multiple companies, it is not a bill of attainder. Also, the bill does not only apply to past bonuses but also bonuses to be paid in the future.

I am assuming that the bill we're talking about is the 90% tax bill.

The AIG bill was also wrong for aiming at one company and not all TARP recipients. The ACORN bill should be reworded to state ANY organization found guilty of misappropriating funds be denied govt money.

If you're going to claim Grayson got 'schooled' by Sensenbrenner because he 'changed the subject' at the 3:00 mark...What does Sensenbrenner do at 2:19?...he tries to deflect Grayson's challenging the justification of bill of attainder scrutiny of ACORN and tries the old rhetorical 'false equivilency" bullshit , as if ACORN and AIG deserve similar scrutiny / punishment....Only in right-wing nut ville my friends...

Sensenbrenner is not being honest at all about the bill. He is the same man that was for proving tax lopholes ofr healthcare companies, the same fool who was in favor of no bid contracts that are completly agaisnt the sound economic policy for the country. He is agaisnt retricting the amount of usury (interest %) a credit card company can charge & a over all overdraft that can be outstanding which further the debt of adverage citizens. So i take what ever he says with a gain of salt.

Sensenbrenner has a good personal manner but his examples are dishonest. He knows this is an unconstitutional bill of attainer and he knows the "two part test" for a bill of attainer is not as narrow as his side is making it out to be. He knows US -vs- Brown. He's also somewhat contradictory saying it's not a bill of attainer but it's also one of several bills of attainer recently. In the end he covers it all up with demagoguery mentioning firefighters -vs- Acorn. Smooth but not honest.
