REPORTERS - An important chapter in the history of the French navy is coming to an end. A floating embassy and a showcase for France for 45 years, the navy training ship Jeanne dArc is setting out on its last mission. From Rio to Buenos Aires, we traveled with the officer cadets on the last voyage of this mythical vessel which has trained all French naval officers since 1964.
Great ship. But not a tragic retirement - the vessel has served well over a long life. So it makes sense. Meanwhile, the British scrap perfectly decent large ships, with decades left in them.
