On planet 11, the gravity picks up quite a bit. Anti-Gravity makes this no problem mostly, but I still choke in a few places. On a quick run-through like this it isn't a big deal, though. Just one more planet to go :)

  • In the American version I left a bug in the sound driver, so that it failed to clear a particular variable when the level started.

That's why the music quite often makes that weird off-key droning throughout. It must have p_ssed the musician off, but seeing as I never met him I'll probably never know.

Excellent series by the way. Thanks for putting this stuff online.

  • Thanks for stopping in to comment :) I always wondered what some of those planet names came from. I'm guessing that would be you at the top of the credits, Steve Hughes?

By the way, for an NES game the sound and music was done quite well. Gives a sense of solitude and exploration. It's quite fitting. I would have never guessed there was any bugs involved ;)

And believe me when I say I enjoyed every minute of making these vids. One of the best games ever made!

  • This is the best level music in this game!

  • @yosser Was there ever any plans to do a re-make of this game?

  • @yosser Thank you Steve, thank you very much for aiding in one of the NES' best games.

  • Best tune in the game IMO. Really though, it's all good.

I only finished this game properly 1-2 years ago (after having owned it for 13 years), although I'm pretty sure I used a Game Genie to give me 9 lives and 777777 credits. A totally amazing game, deeply atmospheric and unlike anything else I have ever played.

  • Oh this takes me back. I loved the music on this level

  • Strangely enough, that off key droning is part of the charm of this game. It gives it an alien feel to it. These are the golden days of rare.

  • It was my favorite level music for sure!

  • sad music, most memorable.

  • Awesome, Good game man. I just happen to stumble about this game a few days ago..watching Ferret's run thro. Too bad i never got to play this as a kid, Would have loved it.
