This is a clip from an experiment attempting to document the mechanism that turtles use to breathe during locomotion. The top image is regular video, the middle image is x-ray and the bottom third of the image is an airflow trace from the mask. A flat line indicates no breathing, above zero is exhalation and below in inhalation. The turtle was not harmed by this procedure.

  • I'm frequently looking for footage like this of animals moving, to reference. Maybe you could do this with more animals and set up an archive for animators and artists.
