It could be anywhere, USA. Similar architecture is popping up in downtown Berkeley. Major noisy construction on Center Street, erecting an oversized tinker toy condo or UCB offices.

Those new buildings of what appears to be apartment flat upstairs residential with storefronts on the street level are ugly as hell. The refurbishment and gentrification looks worse than the rotting victorian shacks that were originally there.
