A 1950s-era commercial for a range of old electronics, in this case portable radios and clock radios. The commercial is slightly longer than usual, due to the unusual nature of the show it comes from. Also, shows with a couple of longer commercials was preferred over shows with many small ones at the time. The commercial aired live, so expect a few flubs.

Bill Shipley was Sylvania's spokesman on "BEAT THE CLOCK", so he gets to plug this impressive assortment of radios {Roxanne Arlen, Bud Collyer's assistant, shows them off}- yes, people were still listening to radio back then, although during this period (December 1953), prime-time entertainment shows on network radio were quickly losing ground to TV. Which would you rather do- see this on CBS television, or listen to Vaughn Monroe's "CAMEL CARAVAN" on CBS radio?
