Here's part twenty-one of my 96 Goals walkthrough of Super Mario World.

I find the last few goals in this area (one which leads to a same place) without the Castle. I will now be completing the Star World and Special World.

Yep, and yep. Take a look at the last part where I show my other file. There, I maxed out both lives and the score.

When you press Select and the Level Menu (or whatever it's called) shows up, what do the Ms (or the Ls), after the the name of the level, mean?

Those letters show whether you've cleared the level with Mario or Luigi the first time.

And why is it that some games show two letters and others only show one?

You mean some levels? Because they have two exits.
