I think it is pretty simple to find on the Internet not only the difference between counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy, but also many studies showing CBT can be beneficial.

All I am trying to say is in order to progress, you have to be actively open to change. Although CBT is not effective for everyone, many people believe that just 'going through the motions' will produce results. CBT is an 'active' therapy - you must actively change you negative thoughts in order to progress.

I removed the comment because I believed it is more relevant to your comment. And yes, CBT and traditional counselling are completely different. Counselling involves allowing clients to talk about their issues to help them form their own solutions to problems without any active suggestion from the therapist. CBT involves changing negative thought patterns and behaviours to solve identified problems such as shyness, depression etc.

Hey, you removed this comment that you made: "CBT cannot work if you don't give it a proper chance. If you refuse to believe it may be even a little helpful, how can you give it a proper chance?"
Hmm, is that like deciding to give penicillin a chance? Or erythromycin, or tylenol? You have to do better than that. Or maybe that's why you deleted your comment.

Ok, prove the difference,. I am open to scientific proof.

I think you may be confusing CBT with counselling. They are different therapies.

What's there to be trained in? It's quackery. Listen to the dude, your friend could do the same for free....it's a waste of money

If you have a friend trained in CBT that is.
