SYNOPSIS:

Ehm. WW2 happened before movies like those, and it didn't make a lot of sense, did it? Or WWI, or the various civil wars and revolutions of the 19th and 18th century, the Napoleonic wars the reign of terror, the 100 years war, the american conquest, the middle ages and the crusades, the burning of carthage and the punic wars, the wars of alexander the great, the... i think you get the point. Funny you don't remember the senseless violence before violent movies, cause there is plenty.
