Back when the Leps were NWOBHM. It was the end of an era when Pete Willis had to leave.

@supermetalero3000 i agree that the smoking was certainly a factor. but also at that time, i don't know if anyone could forsee the necessity of taking care of themselves. because who thought metal bands from this era would be touring today? most fans in the 80's would have never dreamed they could go out and see the leps today.

@supermetalero3000 Smoking for 40 years and old(er) age does that. Joe was 18-21 years old when he sang this... He's turning 56 in August

@LORDHATE76 No, they were great up til Steve died. Retro active was the last true leppard album with genuine def sound even though it was released after the dissapointing adrenalize. Retro should have been it and then quits. Viv is no leppard.

This one certainly showcases the young drummer. At times it seems as if the guitars aren't sure what to do with those drum patterns. This causes conflict in the music that could be resolved by the vocals. The vocals could be above the musical battle, as if giving a non-biased, high energy commentary of it. Sadly the vocals seemed swept along by the music, as if they were home watching it all on tv.
This being said, I truely enjoy Def Lep music.

My 1st love
I believe this was one of those songs from that Ep,"The Def Leppard EP",pressed by the group, then handed out at shows to promote them..one copy was given to a Mercury exec one night, who then signed them..the rest is Leppard History! LONG LIVE "DA LEPS!"

@mrmjb1960 Actually the EP had Ride Into the Sun, Getcha Rocks Off and The Overture. The only vinyl release for this song was the First Strike record the bands old managers put out to capitalize on the success of Pyromania.

This isn't 1980. This is just after they released their independent EP. That's before they put out On Through The Night.
