1950 Carl Smith has to be the most underrated voices in country music, and it's unbelievable that he is not remembered and revered more today. This collection encompasses the early years (up to 1960) and begins with his early "Hank-style" and progresses as Carl becomes comfortable with his own smooth vocals that are immediately recognizable

Carl Smith was one of the greatest country singers of all time and he and Hank Williams were running neck and neck in the early fifties in popularity. he used to really pack them in at old Ryman as i remember seeing him there in 1951. "I Overlooked An Orchid" was one of his great classics. Country was really Great Country back then.
