Record rise in UK unemployment rate (15July09)

The BBC announce a record rise in unemployment, a great achievement by New Labour, more so as they keep out all those on incapacity benefit (which has shot up under New Labour), those on training, and those on other courses in schools / unemployment courses.

Despite hiring at a rate of knots into the public sector a million plus paper shufflers and other sh1t kickers, the private sector is losing productive jobs hand over fist, the public sector is still hiring. As the private sector shrinks, how does New Labour think there will be money to keep the public sector? The Bond sales are failing, the IMF may come soon (but don't have enough money to bail out the UK from £2.5Trillion debt).

The figures for where I live are - 38% on job seekers, 10% on incapacity and 4% on other benefits. So less then 1 in 2 in employment.

Blame it on the recession

I left uni june, i tryed to apply in my local asda for a job, they told me theres no point, i asked why....1000 PEOPLE APPLYED FOR THE SAME JOB...1000 PEOPLE, oh common now this its taking the mick. This is such fucking BS, I have been unemployed now for a year, a can't fucking believe this, all I am saying is worst unemployment in Britain now for like 25 years, but yet there are Millions of Migrant Workers from the 3rd World Eastern Europe, now that means if their here, filling the jobs, then what's left for British people? Managed to get a job at Jessops today. Updated my CV and gave a good interview. Im glad ive managed to get a job in a recession. Im gonna keep this job at all costs. Being out of work for 6 months makes you appreciate how good it is, to have a job.
