The Advantage (playing Contra)

There are few who can hold a candle to The Advantage's live performance! My recording doesn't do them justice. Here's to the best Nintendo cover band on the planet!!!

Yeah, me too! I don't think my old point & shoot camera could handle how insanely loud it was. (I think you can hear me yell in this video, but when I was there, I couldn't hear anything but the music)

You have to make your comparisons with live shows. Those who think Neskimos are better have probably never been to an Advantage show.

They are playing in an art gallery called Fool's Foundation...which happens to be in a basement.

Amen. That and Neskimos = nintendo butt rock for most of their songs. The Advantage does it right...and better.

Minibosses, Neskimos, the Advantage - I like them all, and enjoy comparing their takes on shared songs. But I like the Advantage best because they seem tighter and more proficient at their instruments.

I can see where people who prefer a "metal" sound over the original 8-bit might prefer Neskismo. The Advantage are the best at recreating the original sound and soul of the NES though. For those that do prefer the metal sound, I think Metroid Metal (do a google search) is far superior to Neskismo. Although, they basically only cover metroid sound tracks and I'm not sure it's ever performed live.

the advantage should just be refered to as a band and not a nintendo covers band because once the novelty factor has worn off your left with a tight 'mathy' sounding band.

Metroid Metal is awesome, but I think the chances of it being performed live are pretty slim. I haven't been to the site in a long time, but the last I heard Stemage had his own non-videogame CD out, so he'd probably want to focus more on promoting that stuff. Besides, it would require getting two or three other guys to learn the songs from scratch, since he did almost all the guitar, bass and drums for MM by himself.
