I think this is wrong. Saying yes to more things mean you will experience more. I have often found myself wanting to say no to parties, yet I decided to say go anyway, and had a great time. I'm not gonna bother explaning my point, everyone should just go watch "Yes Man" with Jim Carrey.

Sorry Derek, I don't agree with this one.

Sounds like you're not yet over-committed.

Saying "YES" to things can often be a path to success!

But then that same habit of saying "yes" to everything can be that same person's downfall once they are successful.

When you say "yes" to too many things, (usually once you are over-committed), you become completely ineffective. That's when the "HELL YEAH OR NO" approach is needed.

Wow, can you teach me how you create such BEAUTIFULLL videos, they are no damn colorful and each video gives such a great message.

What technology you use to create such beautiful videos? Although I am a tech enthusiast I know zinch about animation (or may be not even that!)

    Please do advice.

    Thanks

I understand perfectly what he is saying, but simplifications do nothing to alleviate the hassle we all contend with, the trade offs we all make between the mundane or unpleasant, and the rewarding and fun.

which will then lead you to saying hell yes to whatever other thing you find. having a job you dont like you enslaving yourself as is doing anything you dont like, like being with people you dont really like e.t.c.

well, in yes man, jim carey's character learned that saying yes can lead to great experiences, then later learned that it's also necessary to say no at times..so if you're naturally anti-social, saying yes can be good at first..then later, you can realize out of all those experiences, which ones are really worth it, and say no to the things that don't matter..it's a good movie if you're anti social, but if you're naturally social and know what you want, then this video is right on point!

I think Dereks referring to, 'spreading yourself too thin' or 'being too kind'. I have a few friends like that. If I have a problem and I know they are capable in this area, I ask them if they 'can take a look at this broken item', their reply isnt 'yes' or 'no'. It is usually inquisitive, 'whats it doing' or 'whats the failure' and very far from a definite answer. It sumtimes piss's me off. I even offer money up front. And it still doesnt phase them. They simply will not say NO.

LOL I'm sure he doesn't mean it like that. Do what you need to or if you REALLY want to say no to that assigned project - suggest a different one that should be assigned. My brother does that at his place of work and even if they didn't listen to him the first few times, he ended up being a project manager eventually and now gets to decide what assignments to dish out. It's awesome.

You all suck.. firstly he mentioned at the begining of the video "if you're often overcommited or too scattered" if you're focusing on the rest of it, you fail.. and what he's saying.. is find a way to love life.. or else there's no point in living

This is a difficult lesson to learn when your primary focus is paying the bills after having been laid off. But I agree nonetheless.

It serves for those moments when you feel you're not going anywhere with all the "possibilities" that you've embraced. Makes a lot of sense to me.
