If you plan on working on your laptop, please take notes and take your time. This video makes things look very easy. Some connectors will fall apart easier than they will disconnect and can take several minutes to slowly work apart. It is VERY easy to break small components that are expensive to replace. Depending on your individual skill level you may have more of a chance of breaking something than fixing something so if your laptop is important to you, please let an experienced technician handle it. I have over 10 years experience working with computers. I will try my best to answer questions but please keep them related to the video and the work being done. Thank you for watching! • So this was all necessary to simply replace the power jack on the rear?

Mine needs the same thing done to it but there is no way I can do this without breaking something.

  • @nymfan1990 Yes to remove the DC Jack (power jack) you must 1st take the laptop apart. Let me know if you would like me to fix your computer at my shop.

  • I have a similar model MSI G710. The machine does power on, butno POST happens. Disk led flashes a few times and that’s it. Ventilator, power led and wifi LED work, pressing corresponding wifi button, changes status led colour

On power on right side screen briefly flashes up no text. Any ideas as to what might cause this?

Tried to remove power and battery and pressed the power-switch for over 60 sec, the installed power only (no battery) and turned the machine on, with the exact same result.

  • great video!!! learned alot!!! tnx

  • I have this laptop, and I can not figure out what the cover and empty slot with 4-pin cable that you uncover around 0:42 is supposed to house. Any insight?

    Thanks, great video!

  • my laptop's screen keeps falling off when I try putting it a spot.

Can you make a video how to fix it??

  • So I tried to fix my wives MSI 4000 laptop which was having issues with charging. I replaced the charger, which did not fix it. So I disassembled it. And replaced the power jack with minimal knowledge of what I was doing. I don't believe I broke any component, however I put it all back together and now I get nothing when I press the power button. Do you have any recommendations? Is there any special process besides just soldering on the new power jack to the board? I did not see any wires that

  • @FastVideoTech where's your shop?

  • @vtwinbreed I successfully managed to disassemble my MSI GX-700X and to replace thermal compound (any1 is good) on CPU & GPU ( it took over 3 hours to dis/assemble), but now my laptop is like 10 dB less nosier and i don't need external cooler ( i have one from Cooler-master) just to keep my hands on laptop while typing. My recommendation is to follow this video (you have 2 same laptops so practice on one :) or send them (FastVideoTech) your laptops to repair.

  • @shokyg Tried everything.. The tape on one became crunchy and brittle, so not happy.. MSI wants $350 each to ship and fix and return ship, so if anyone wants them, I'll sell for $175 each.

  • @vtwinbreed I have MSI GX-700X model (MSI-1719) and I'm running BOINC GPU CLIENT on 8600GT without any overheating problems. Try to clean your COOLER (just open left "door" on back side and release CPU screws). If that doesn't help, try to open complete laptop and replace thermal paste on CPU and GPU). Thermal compound tends to became heat insulators over time.
