This song was sent to me by likekinds. He sent it to me so I could make a video about the song's story. Many people heard the instrumental version of "Apache" but never heard the words (I was one of them). I searched the web for pics' and this was the result.

  • Wikipedia, Says, Jerry Lordon & Davie Allan wrote this in 1965 & That Sonny James sang a Local version ! in 1961. It does not say He wrote it. !! I like it , 1st time I have heard it. in words. ~ Arthur

  • @arinvests Apache was written by Jerry Lordan. Lordan had given the song to Bert Weedon to record but he didn't like Weedon's version. Jerry liked a British group named The Shadows so he played the song for them. The Shadows recorded it and their version was a hit. It used to be difficult for British performers to get air time in the U.S. so when a song was a hit in Britain, it was re-recorded by an American and released in the U.S. Apache was covered by the Ventures, the Safari's and others.

  • Then along came Sonny James, the American semi-country singer who had a big hit with "Young Love". Liking the song and hoping to capitalize on its popularity, he penned his own lyrics to it and released a vocal version with a different sort of appeal. (This info. comes from Uncle Phaedrus (Consulting Detective and Finder of Lost Recipes) on the internet. Sonny James' version has been well received at YouTube. I hope he knows how popular his version is!

  • @arinvests The remainder of my comment re: Sonny James is above your comment. There were too many
