it is a whole lot better than those two lousy, crappy concertos by Liszt!
-
If this were attributed to Mozart people would be salivating over it.

Silly tune? LOL, you ain't heard nuthin' - listen to Alkan's Chemin de Fer ;)

(continued) Mozart & Haydn, the geniuses that they were, had the finesse to churn creativity out of these clichés. Perhaps Beethoven's second thought in not dedicating his Eroica symphony to Napoleon may have been the beginning of the rebelliousness against authority when it came to the arts. As with all working stiffs, perhaps Fodor was simply trying to survive!

Yes, this work is full of musical clichés, so what!? Every composer, especially through the early romantic period used the prevailing clichés. It wasn't till the eradication of the nobility & the patronage system (thanks to Napoleon & company) that artists in all categories were able to go their own way. The nobility, as today's politicians were culturally illiterate, and so that their charges needed to conform to the humdrum, boring clichés understood by their plebeian norms of the day.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this piece... and as other people have said, if it was by Mozart everyone would have giant boners.

Sounds like it could be the theme music for a BBC series.
-
just sounds like good incidental music to me. A lot of the Classical era repertoire was to be played as background music not as concert music.
-
It wasn't hard to play, but it doesn't change it sounds good.

why the worst? I liked it. Although very formatted as mason classical music it isn't bad.

not bad at all. the performance is just really bland...
before reading your video comments about this fodor's off-day piano concerto, I was about to comment this concerto remembered me Salieri's absurd poor quality music. I agree with you. Preciselly I've been searching Fodor for a minor tone symphony, one of my favorites, i recorded in a cassete from a FM radio in 80's but have never found it nowhere in this internet era. I think it was number 4 in c minor, it is a very sad and beautifull symphony. You you know where could I find it?

@rodstartube Hi! Fodor's 4th is an amazing masterpiece. Except for the 2nd movement (too much Haydn there) it is almost on par with the first 2 Beethoven symphonies (and yes, that is a bold claim!) If you go to the webpage of the "Residentieorkest" and search in the cd section, you can find a recording of the 4th symphony conducted by Antal Dorati (no less!). Thanks for your comment!
