http://www.karenrothnutrition.com Strawberries are at their peak from April through July, so take advantage now to insure that you get the highest concentration of nutrients from this flavorful berry.

Besides being tasty, they offer so many health benefits. They are packed full of antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory properties and along with the high amount of Vitamin C they contain, strawberries may support joint health for those with arthritic conditions. Some animal studies found that strawberries can fight off free radicals that lead to decreased brain function. They were fed diets rich in strawberries, and improvement was noted in not only their learning capacity but also their motor skills.

Bonus: They are low in calories less than 45 for a full cup.

Everyones gotten a strawberry that is white on the inside and its not very tasty. Its important to buy your strawberries already ripe, because once picked, they do not continue to ripen. So smell them, they should have a strong aroma, they should be deep red in color, and have bright green caps or stems. They are very perishable so you should eat them within 3 days. You should store them in the refrigerator and if you can wash them right before you eat them. They will not last as long if you wash then store in the refrigerator.

And since strawberries are in the top 12 pieces of produce that are the most heavily sprayed with pesticides, try to find these organic whenever possible.

Now we really dont need any recipes for strawberries since they are perfect just on their own. But, if you are asked to take a dessert to an upcoming party, you can make the most delicious recipe out of strawberries that would rival any cookie or cake.

All you need is:

2 pounds ripe strawberries, stems removed
1 large lemon
2/3 cup pure maple syrup

Remove the stems and cut the strawberries lengthwise.

Combine a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice with 2/3 cup maple syrup bring to a boil.

Simply pour the concoction over the sliced berries and serve.

You can add the zest of the lemon skin to give it some added color.

You have a simple, low calorie delicious dessert.

  • A common mistake on diets are people tryin to count calories. The warrior diet by Ori Hofmekler is a great diet. You can lose weight, get stronger, and have much more energy. His products are top of the line as well. I suggest that for anyone.

  • You have really nice teeth! lol

I'm trying to stick with a 2000 calorie a day diet... Should I consider fruits like strawberries, grapes, and apples as "free" calories and not count them in my daily intake?

  • strawberries its good for diet ???
