Shmulik B. a professional dog trainer and an AKBAN academy veteran, http://www.akban.org - shows how to get an assaulting dog to release its bite. This will work on any dog, any wolf, any pitbull or mastiff. As long as the dog needs to breath, pressure his the trachea and block the air passage through the air pipe. This forces the dog to open it's bite and try to take some air. Initiate the gag reflex!

Since this is not a blood choke, but an airway choke it will take more then two minutes of complete pressure to make the dog unconscious.
That is a lot of time and long before it the dog will stop it's behavior recognizing you as the alpha and the pack leader.

Shmulik, the guy who is explaining the technique is one of the most decorated dog trainers in Israel, with years of experience with working, police and guard dogs.
I would say that your suggestions about grabbing the legs, kicking, running away etc. does not work and the baseball bat, gun or grenades if you have ones, might hurt the victim too.
This technique is the one dog trainers, all over the world use. Learn it.
Take care

We uploaded this self defense technique to our martial arts YouTube channel even if it's a bit outside our channel focus. We think it's necessary - we could not find another video on the net that shows this basic stuff.

The dog on the video is a trained dog, it's doing great.
Do not try this technique without the supervision of a certified instructor.

    I have two questions:

1.- Would it be better to apply this technique trying to hold the collar in its highest position on the dogs neck?

2.- Would this work on a dogs fight? (obviously applied by both owners on each dog) or it would be too risky?

    Thanks!

with all your might, try to learn from experience, my experience, and not from your wishful thinking.

May you, and the other kids who would like to shoot/taser/kill or stick a finger in the dog's butt, see the video and memorize it. It is not the best procedure, but it is the best procedure for an average guy on the street.

    be safe

thanks so much !This is very valuable information and could save not only a humans life but possibly a dogs they may be shot or put down for maiming someone because humans failed to train the dog or mishandled him .I used to rescue pitbulls that were left for dead after loosing a fight in NYC. dog fighting is popular on the black market in NY.Many of the pit bulls I rescued turned out to be great dogs when handled properly some of course sadly could not be rehabilitated and were put down

they are working dogs, training them to NOT bite defeats the PURPOSE, you want the dog to hold the attacker/offender, and release them on command, if they dont release, do this.
