In order to calculate MPH without a speedometer, a person needs to simply divide his distance traveled by the time it took to travel that distance. Calculate miles per hour with help from the manager of a driving school in this free video on calculating driving speed.

Actually, had to do this, When I was driving a truck I just bought in NY, back to GA, the speedometer didn't work, and half the trip i had no traffic. So I just took a stopwatch (cellphone) and clicked between mile markers, and did the math. I figured if I can get a ticket via this method, I can use it to track my speed. Then Between gas stations, I kept track of the miles, and figured out my mpg's. I was very geeked, on using this "old" way of doing that.

What is the point? Are you going to calculate ur speed this way to make sure that you are not going above a speed limit?
