@radbcc It's called intelligence. Japanese understand that stealing just puts a strain on the society as a whole, and results in higher prices all around. They respect each other (and they also have way harsher laws and prisons) =)

@kpxlee7 Well maybe people are sick of paying tips for no reason at all. =P
But really, in Japan, there are tons of self order systems. Some places even use old train ticket dispensers swapping destinations with food items.
