  • Regarding her diction--come on, let's give her a break. Think of the high tessitura she's singing in! Also, notice the poor audio quality (both the orchestra and voice sound muddy and far away).

  • She floats that high D and E really nicely. Bravo~! Her diction is not clear because she has floaty voice. Moreover, certain vowels are very hard to pronounce in high range. It's also very hard to understand her diction because of her voice quality. However,She has awesome legato lines. There are always pros and cons.

  • blondchen is great!

  • To those complaining about the tempo - Mozart marked it 'Andante grazioso' which is pretty slow! True, a lot of singers do take it faster - it makes it a whole lot easier to sing!

  • Wait. "Blonde" has red hair? #wiggeryfail. As for Ciofi herself, she just sounds like maybe she wasn't feeling her best- she usually has an easier float. I doubt the uber-slow tempo is her fault. Is it Levine conducting? that would explain it...

  • @primadivo i think she presses her high notes unmercifully but she still can fabulous. check out her french version of lucia. as for lillian watson she in my favourite in this too.

  • Critisize all you want, but she was singing one of the hardest arias a soprano can sing, and she did it while acting and effortlessly. As far as tempo is concerned, maybe she followed the conductor and director. I think it was a bit too slow, but I don't believe it was her interpretation. She was playful and adorable, as Blanche should be. I

  • her high notes are beautiful but my personal preference in this aria is Lillian Watson... IMO well worth looking up :-)

  • she's not a soprano leggero, so i think that it could be great for her. of course there are other soprano that can sing it much better.

  • magnífica interpretación del personaje. El sonido no es bueno y por eso su alemán no es tan claro, pero su tesitura le permite uynos agudos excelentes

  • Too slow, too much covering masking the vowels but I think she attempts to be interpretive and subtle, high marks for her approach. Interesting staging. After hearing Dessay sing this in early years, its hard to be excited about anything else.

  • Suuuuper slow.
