Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (32-9 MMA, 7-3 UFC) will get his wish.

UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta today revealed to ESPN.com that the promotion has granted the former champion his request for a fight in Japan, and Ryan Bader (13-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) will now oppose him at UFC 144.

UFC 144 is set for Feb. 26 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Broadcast plans for the event have yet to be announced.

Earlier this week, Jackson claimed he was unlikely to fight on the card and openly expressed his frustration at the UFC's decision.

"It don't look like I'm fighting in Japan, which I'm not happy about at all," Jackson wrote on his official Twitter account. "I think its a big mistake by the UFC."

Later that day, Jackson appeared a little more optimistic.

"Guys, I have the best managers in the business," Jackson stated. "This thing will work its way out."

Jackson, of course, has a long history of fighting in Japan. The former PRIDE superstar fought 18 times in Japan between 2001 and 2006. He'll return to Japan looking to rebound from a UFC 135 loss to current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

Meanwhile, Bader looks to build on the strength of a UFC 139 win over Jason Brilz. The much-needed result snapped a two-fight losing streak for the winner of "The Ultimate Fighter 8."

  • "Hopefully we get more good fights on this card, I was lookin at the card and I was like I don't know who any of these guys are, and I've been watching mixed martial arts forever"

Are you fucking kidding me? this card is stacked, there are at least 8 fights on this card that should be fuckin awesome. I dont understand how you cant know most of the people on the card if you have watched mma since ufc1 cos i have only been watching for 2 years and theres only 6 ppl who i dont know on that card

  • @deanosovitch yeah there's no question about it this card is crap right now man.

  • "Quinton Jackson" -1 Losing Streak [vs] "Mauricio Rua" -1 Losing Streak

"Wanderlei Silva" +1 Win Streak [vs] "Chael Sonnen" +1 Win Streak

Those are the only two matches, i'm asking of right now.. for a Japan card anyway..lol

  • @SpiderSugaRushShogun seeing those 2 match up woulds be amazing. Yeah shogun vs rampage in japan oh man that would be an amazing rematch and would sell like crazy. Wany vs sonnen would be perfect too.

  • @Trevschan2 this card is the shit'

  • @TheSweatyfatguy I disagree

  • BADER is going to win by ko! you'll see.

  • Rampage can take strong shots. He's has only been KOed twice. It's hard to take down Rampage. Not taking anything away from Bader but I don't see him beating Quinton. Power is in his favor.

  • i love rampage to death, but unless he implents leg kicks in his game plan, hes over. legs kicks are the only thing that has put a stop to rampage career. forrest grifen layed the blue print out on how to beat jackson and jons upheld it. jackson also needs to learn how to avoid such kicks and guard or counter them. if rampage just threw one leg kick followed by a left and a right he could be even better and already hav his belt back

  • Everyone, bet everything you have on Rampage for this fight. Masterbader got knocked out by Tito, lol.

  • @Trevschan2 This card is insane! You obviously haven't been watching since UFC 1, there are huge names on this fight. Fuck Wanderlei and Cro Cop, they're old news.

  • @EaglePartners i know but i can see bader having a good gameplan and using alot of leg kicks and circling to stay away from rampages power and possibly winning a decision. i dont see bader taking rampage down unless he stuns rampage with a big right hand that he likes to throw

  • @krb0123 I like bader so i would rather see him lose a decision rather than get KTFO. Remember that bader is a wrestler and Hamil was a wrestler. Rampage killed Hamil's wrestling and for large part of the jones fight,he stuffed jones take downs. I dont think Bader brings enough to the table to win based off his last fights, but he still has a chance. I put money on Rampage though lol.

  • @EaglePartners i sure hope bader gets knocked out, but i have a bad feeling he will win a decision. i hope not though because rampage is my favorite fighter

  • @EaglePartners Co-Sign that rampage that fought jones had me at the edge of my seat, page looked good in that fight i haven't seen that page for a min now he looked good.

  • Bader COULD get a lucky shot off, but he won't be able to take him down, his striking isn't too great, but he does have big power in his hands, and he's kinda quick. I'm still standing by my 1st comment on here though.
