  • @GTWHITEFEVER 0:11 struggling

although the camera does -tellingly- cut away

    to quote you:

"Are you watching the same vid the rest of us are ? FFS ...

i don't know how much the thing was suffering, and it doesn't bother me particularly BUT you are by no means qualified to assert that it felt nothing- like the rest of us you know nothing about crab physiology.

indeed, i am fairly sure you couldn't even prove that other people have internal states (philosophically or physiologically).

  • @TheAlexis4444 ; Nah didnt see it struggling in pain ..it was just resting ....

  • @GTWHITEFEVER I know he WAS dead when he hit boiling water.. I made the general comment for both Crab and Lobster killing.. that way of freezing them and then quickly putting them in boiling water is believed to be the most humane way. Anyway, when Hugh was killing the Crab here did you see him struggling in pain? putting all his claws together and trying to stop Hugh? He feels great pain even when Hugh was trying to do it quicky. we humans even complain about the tiniest bug bite, don't we?

  • I find this appalling.. anyway, as long as we can't stop eating crab and lobster, d Rick Stein said most humane way to kill them is to keep them in the fridge for sometime, so they goes in to sort of a sleep. Boil the water well and instantly take them out and put it in boiling water. In that way, they don't get much chance to feel anything. As they are small and cannot make sound, people disregard their pain in a barbaric way. Chefs should never encourage live animal cooking

  • i personally just boil the water for 10min then chuck the crab in the pot.

the poor bugger dies instantly from shock and heat

  • Heres what u do right, get a crab, stab it in the head with a screwdriver, Wiggle it a bit and there u go :D
