PEDESTRIANS
New Zealand new wave/rock band 1981-1982
Formed in Palmerston North, securing a 12 month residency at Pahiatuas "Club Hotel" then in 1982 played all round the lower North Island but mainly in Palmerston North, Wanganui,Levin etc.
Their "mini tours" for weekends away like the Taihape "Greta Hotel" or the "Hotel Rutland" in Wanganui were legendary.
The band always drew large crowds and their blend of punchy new wave/rock filled university halls with excited fans on many memorable nights.
The bands ability to combine new wave songs from bands like "The Cure" or "B52s" with the heavier rock sounds of bands like the "Angels", "Psychedelic Furs" proved a winning formula and the band was always in demand.
Various exploits of the band and more in depth history is posted on the text sections of their other videos here on u tube.
No video exists of the band which only adds to the mystery and intrigue of this 4 peice guitar combo from the early 1980s. All the u tube clips are made up of old and some new photos of the band taken at their 2008 reunion where they spent 2 weekends jamming and playing all their old favourites songs they did from 81-82. The venue for the reunion was bass guitarist John Mabeys "Bassrick studio2" in Carterton New Zealand.
Since that reunion the band have played a couple of private parties and will continue to get together every now and then to Jam and...ROCK ON !!!
The band members were/are Forrest Panney (lead guitar), Tony Burgess (rythem) Paul Lea (drums) and John Mabey(bass). With Sound man Warrick Greaves and Steve(Morrie)Sinclair and Peter(Groges)Grogan as roadies. Another unique feature of the band is that they all shared the lead vocals which gave them a wide choice of bands to choose their repertoire from.
