Another monsoon storm strikes Mesa with very intense CG lightning and extremely loud thunder. Darn storm woke me up out of a good sleep! First strike (at 7 seconds in) hits just across the street in neighbor's yard! Taken about 3:30 AM on August 27, 2008 Storm likely the result of the remnents of tropical storm Julio down in Baja Mexico.
Very Scary Stuff!

  • have you guys ever seen a lightning bolt fly out form a cloud and disappear into the wide open sky @ nighttime? that happened to me once and its VERY rare i think. but omg it was so bright i saw like all the colors in it @ once. it was amazing. a bare bolt with no light blur form clouds. that was insane

  • @MetalMonarchy I think I have, but mostly at a distance.

Sometimes during our summer monsoon season, lightning bolts branch out from anvil cloud tops into the clear air to dissapear.

  • wow amazing lightning footage especially at 3:22! Looked pretty close! I remembered when we had a lightning storm here in the Bay Area in California. When I was driving 5:00 in the morning, a lightning strike, similar to this, struck right in front of me. I was screaming in excitement!! I love lightning storms.

  • @54spiritedwill54 Lightning storms in Arizona usually happen too late in the night for

my enjoyment. I prefer daytime storms, when I am not at work.

  • Why cant you see cloud to ground lightning when it is raining hard outside at night?

  • @JustinU1984 CG lightning is the most visible when the storm is not directly over you.

It is all about where you are looking when lightning strikes. Usually, when it is pouring rain or hailing outside, the lightning is directly above you, where it is hard to see.

  • There Was the Car Alarm-s In the Close Bolt Lightning.

  • @LaserDarkDX i didnt mean up close lol. i saw he at a distance too.l but ven still its like having a M.I.B. neurallizer in your face xD and the strangest part: i never heard it. waited about 30 secods(no the storm was not that far away and no was the bolt) never heard it. and yeah like you said it w high up in the anvil part...i say it almost always is cause the dry air around the storm gets staticy maybe? idk why it happens

  • @JustinU1984 cause the rain obstructs the bolt. same reaosn cloud-to-cloud bolts arent always visible.

  • @54spiritedwill54 howd u not jump and cras or something? did ur alarm go off like @ 0:30? LOL

  • for some reason i love the rain it feels calm
