No, they were known as "Die Fritter des Himmels", because they looked like they'd been dipped in batter and deep-fried. The RAF sent them back Stateside because they were too fat to get in a Spitfire. I saw the Tom Cruise film, BTW. It was actually called "The First of The Few Inches Too Short".

Ignore swanningaround everyone - he's posted mostly anti-British comments on most of the WWII vids I've viewed.

Most of the music here is by Walton, but
Malcolm Arnold, who conducted the orchestra, had to finish Walton's work as he was a slow writer. There is a distinct change to Arnold's composing style at1.53. This is excellent music.

Dambusters aswell. Im sure your aware, the attack on the Death Star was modelled on the dambusters and some of the actual script from dambusters is used for star wars as deliberate homage to it.

The rest of Waltons music was rediscovered on tapes about 20 years back. If you get the latest edition of the B of B DVD . There is the option to watch the film with thiis music put back in. It changes the feel of the film and for the bette in my opinion. Still the dodgy 60's hairstlyes and make up on susannah York remain Im afraid.

I can forgive Susannah York anything for that image of her parading around in little more than her shirt and stockings!

Get the re released DVD of the film where you have the option of watching the film with Waltons music put back in. It makes quite a difference. The feeling of the film changes and for the better.
