I'm a student at the University of Oklahoma, and today my professor was teaching us about open and closed pipes and the acoustic properties of each. This example shows how air moves inside a closed pipe. The flames are created via propane coming out of tiny holes in the top. The flames are higher where the air is moving more inside.
