This is Volcano: The Blast Coaster from Intamin. It's the world's first launched inverted roller coaster. Paramount (the owners of the park at the time) wanted to redevelope the area that used to be home to a log flume and boat ride but without removing the mountain. that's where this ride came from. It was built by Intamin AG and opened on August 13, 1998 with four inversions, a length of 2,757ft, a height of 155ft, a drop of 80ft, and a top speed of 70mph using a LIM (Linear Induction Motor) to launch the ride.

  • @beejay27 That's due to its low capacity. There's only two seats per row and there's no mid course brake run (MCBR). Having no MCBR limits the coaster to just two trains on the track at the same time.

  • I've always been fascinated by this ride, but have yet to ride it. Two questions:

    Is it very headbangy?

Do you know if it has ever rolled back?

  • @MrMorganOBrien No, It's actually quite smooth. As for it rolling back, the only times I've heard it roll back was during the summer of 2010 and that was only a couple of times.

  • @TallSlimShady97 Yes they do. They shoot a flame out the top of the mountain before each coaster train is launched. You can even see it at the beginning of this video when I show the Volcano sign with the mountain in the background.

  • ok now that looks fun :]

  • I love this ride. It is one of the best blast coasters I have ridden, but sense it is a blast coaster trains break down a lot. It seems like when I'm there they only run one train. If there is a long line I'd rather go ride intimidator 305 because the lines for that are like 10 - 30 minutes long if they are running both trains.

  • this rides line is waaaaay too long for it to be a little over 1min long. I only ride it as soon as it opens but last year my wife and i got on it at night and there is nothing like it.Also try the Grizzly at night.

  • I love dis ride but when u pulled off u zoom off too fast my eyes close by it self lol

  • This my fav ride :D

  • @vaugier7 I really didn't notice it, but I'm shure they do. You can always email the park and ask them.
