@nathancannon97 Johnny Rabb explains it on some videos on youtube. Search for Rabb Single Hand Roll. It's pretty clever. You need to hit the rim and the head at the same time on the down stroke, let the stick pivot on the rim, pull it back up and let the stick hit the head when it pivots. Takes a bit of practice, but you'll have the technique down in about 10 minutes, the practice bit is getting the speed up.
