I agree with Lesile, that soaps are now focused more on storylines and plots. They need to focus more on characters and their relationships instead of just storyline....

Loved what she said about the lack of history and background for the characters. While plot is exciting, in daytime it can actually be a detriment. People have always watched because they love the people, the characters. They stay for decades, not for plot, but for characters and relationships.

I remember Leslie as Iris Donnelly Garrison on the soap opera, "Love Is A Many Splendid Thing." It was the only soap opera I watched. I don't watch them now. Wow, it flies by, doesn't time?
