The Carringtons celebrate Christmas in 1984 with a standard helping of drama.

Taken from season 5 episode "That Holiday Spirit" (#5.12), which originally aired on December 19, 1984 on ABC.

Krystle (Linda Evans) and Blake (John Forsythe) enjoy the holidays following the recent troubled birth of their daughter Krystina.

On Christmas Eve, the family gathers at the mansion where Krystle gives her husband a portrait of his recently deceased daughter Fallon (Pamela Sue Martin). The gift saddens Jeff (John James), Fallon's husband.

Fallon would of course return alive and well several months later, prior to the launch of spinoff series 'The Colbys' in the shape of Emma Samms, who replaced Martin.

Also, there is trouble in the marriage of bisexual Steven (Jack Coleman) and his wife Claudia (Pamela Bellwood), because Steven has been spending too much time with his gay colleague Luke. Steven's straight brother Adam (Gordon Thomson) makes his first move towards Claudia.

Blake uses the opportunity to introduce Amanda (Catherine Oxenberg) as his daughter, he never knew he had. Dominique Deveraux (Diahann Carroll) is disappointed, because she was hoping he would announce to the family that she is his sister, he never knew he had.

Finally, a furious Alexis (Joan Collins) storms the family get-together with her new husband Dex (Michael Nader). She is unhappy the truth about the identity of Amanda's father was revealed, because she despises Blake and demands that Amanda leave with them.

What Alexis doesn't know, is that her daughter is in love with her husband Dex, and the two slept together in a mountain lodge, just days before Alexis and Dex wed in London, UK.

  • Lol! I meant, glamour. Thanks, LBColby.

  • LOL, yes that's a perfect transcript of what Lil'Blake (love that spelling, I should change my YouTube nick into that) said. And I wouldn't even try to comprehend what he said earlier when he opened his present... :)

  • At 3:15 is perhaps our only chance in the series to see PSM in the same shot with Catherine Oxenberg - even if it is only a painting. *SIGH* WHY COULDN'T PSM HAVE STAYED SO SHE COULD DUKE IT OUT WITH HER LONG-LOST BRITISH SISTER?! Hahaha...

  • Tears are always coming, when LB said: "I love you, mommy!" Oh, i missed PSM so much...

    Greetings from Germany

  • Merry Christmas 2010 to you all around the world who love Dynasty from bordeaux France

  • thank you

  • Just lifeless. Not much Yuletide warmth here.

  • that is one international choir. Every face a different nationallity. Sweet

  • Like 90% of the episodes of season, the script does actually contain more scenes that this episode. In particular, after Steven asked Claudia to leave him alone with Danny, Adam saw her crying in the corridor and comfort her. That's how Claudia became friend with Adam. That's said, their conversation about finding the secret of Dominique is still nuts.

  • That's kind of Walter Lankershim: playing Santa at Blake's house! Claudia probably arranged it, not informing Blake about it.

  • Lovely tender kiss B & K share in the hospital !
