I've been getting some emails asking about the Alchemist. Since it's said to have a 'Fender-y' clean channel, I decided to put some SRV riffage up to demonstrate this. I have my guitar plugged straight in to the amp, on the clean channel. Position 2 on the guitar (neck and mid pickups, Texas Specials) Channel settings for this are:

Gain: 10:00 - crunch on
Treble: 1:30 - bright off
Middle: 10:00
Bass: 1:00 - deep off
Reverb: 11:00 - 'spring' type

I had the amp in '20W' mode, with the volume at about 8:00 - it was rather late when I recorded this, and didn't want to rouse anyone in the house. Apologies in advance for the clams here, I wasn't shooting for perfection. :)

  • awesome sound! could i ask what strings you use?

    btw what song is that?

  • They're D'Addario 0.10s, nothing special. The first song is called 'Lenny' off of Texas Flood, and the second one is called 'Riviera Paradise' off of In Step. Both are 'approximations' of those tunes... I'm just riffing on the main parts of the song.

  • amazing sound

I will probably buy this bogner...

    is it realy versatile??

  • Thanks! The amp is pretty versatile, and surprisingly good sounding.

  • it says on his other video that its a 62' reissue with texas specials and a JB jr. in the bridge. looks to be equipped with a graphtech nut and string tree.

  • Correct! Graphtech saddles too.

  • felt like steve was in the room for amoment. Thanks for that

  • "srv tone is best from a fender amp"

sure, maybe, except that SRV played a Dumble 6 string slinger. He used Fenders as well, but all highly modded.

No unmodified Fender amp will get the tones that SRV got.

  • This sounds fantastic bro

  • @oggerocker You could just buy a really cheap noise gate pedal, or use the footswitch to switch back to clean when not using the mercury channel :)

  • I own a Bogner Alchemist 2 x12 and as far as I can tell it's one of the most amazing amplifier I have ever come across.

Really nice clean sound. Almost like Fender.

Really nice and creamy sustain distortion.

A downside of this amp is the noice coming out when you're on distortion mode.

  • really fender clean sound! amazing! and for that price... what alchemist is this?

  • Nice playing great sounds. Is that the 212 or 112 Bogner alchemist?

  • sounds good.........bogner..........

  • Hey man, spot on tone. This amp is legit. Im gonna pick up one soon. =)

  • @czesio12323 Hi Czesio.

I'm looking at the same options.

All forementioned amps have great cleans, which don't differ that much.

They do differ in the Drives/Crunches and Hign gains, so there should be our choice, I guess.

SInce I'm a Blues / Pop Rock guyy I'm probably going for the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III. I have the opportunity to side-by-side test these amps (thanks to FeedBack in Holland) and the Fender cleans 3D sound everytime rocks my boat. Only one more test session to go ... :-)

  • are you satisfied with your texas special pickups? have you thought of buying some other custom shop pickups after you bought those ones?

  • excuse me!

please teach me the song name of 1:39~
