  • He paid nothing. Peter Green gave it to him

  • @eegoog From an interview with Gary Moore (1984): Peter Green said - "You can have ’59 Les Paul if you want, if you want to buy it and stuff." And he sold it to me for like next to nothing. It wasn’t a financial transaction. It was more like I sold one of my guitars and then I gave him what I got for that. He wanted it to be like swapping guitars almost.

  • Amazing that Moore never reached mainstream fame like SRV did...he played straight from the heart and had awesome "you can tell it's him in a few notes" like SRV, Santana, BB, Eric, Knopfler, Beck, Page, or Gilmour. Moore certainly deserves to stand shoulder to shoulder with that group (of my faves)

  • Where are the legends of today. Apart from Joe Bonamassa I can't name another modern day player that puts meaning into what they're playing. The guitar world is slowly disintegrating and going backwards. Technicality has taken the place of emotion.

  • I wish Gary could see them ... They want to have what you had!! ... so gifted!

  • @mrkengoodman TOTALLY. He could bring 50 000 people to their knees. When he died, I almost cried. He was so good it is RIDICULOUS. GW

  • Outrageous

    Hush : )

  • @Greebo111 check out the tom hollister trio, u will be surprised by the guitarist 4 sure

  • @Greebo111 When i said Steve Vai and Satriani put emotion into their playing,i meant they do it to a certain extent.Nowhere near Knopfler or Moore that's for sure.

I'd like to hear Steve Vai play plugged straight into a Marshall without being buried in digital effects. That would be interesting. Although he is a fantastic guitarist his music is one step over the mark as far as listenability is concerned. Plus I did say guitarists of today. Peter Green, BB King, Knopfler and Jeff Beck are hardly newcommers.

  • @Greebo111 Joe Satriani and Steve Vai put emotion into their playing. So does Andy Timmons and Jeff Beck.

Not to mention Eric Bibb,Peter Green,Mark Knopfler,BB King,Bernard Allison and many others.
