This was a teepee-like structure that I came across while hiking in Ocala National Forest. (I actually discovered it while I was filming). This area is a supposed hot spot for Sasquatch sightings in the southern United States. Similar structures to this one are usually linked to the Sasquatch activity in the area. Notice that most of the structure consists of small trees that were broken at the root and grouped into sets of two. Also notice the single tree that was bent over and twisted through two other trees. Considering the location and lack of practicality as any kind of shelter (possibly for a territorial purpose), this definitely seems linked to the Sasquatch activity in the area and not human activity.

  • Some of that maybe a result of the hurricanes of 2002. Would make a cool temp shelter for the night! I'm in Volusia Co. and plan on camping there this spring. Maybe I'll see you there!

    Thanks for the post!

  • yea that would be cool to camp in there. you might end up seeing one out there if your lucky. i actually found a few similar ones in that area; not as impressive though.

  • i live in MO. on blackmounten off E highway a mile or to by Marble creack when you go to the top you will find nest like those that tall or some bigger and some times print's with it .

  • The biggest structure I have ever seen. I thought I was going to have to go up north to find these things but I have been finding them down here in the Tampa area. I have read about 'Squath in the Ocala National Forest. Time to pay a visit.

  • yea compared to most of the rest of the forest it's kinda dry. there's a lot of wind damage there now, but that whole forest is excellent. Which expedition? BFRO or anything?

  • I forgot to mention that 566 is the road that leads directly south from the bombing range.

  • This was about a mile or so into a trail on the West side of 566 between 587 & 573 (these are shown on the Wilderness Guide). I'm pretty sure it was north of the horse trail too. Why, do you go there often?
