  • only 450hp?!

  • Yup! That's the Wasp Junior. It was fitted to smaller airplanes such as the DHC-2 Beaver. It's basically a smaller version of the original Wasp engine. They did build larger "double row" Wasps, which gave around 2500hp!

  • @Marshall7302 450HP@2250 RPM x that by 3 or 4 and thats what you will get it you put a gearbox on it... Also the torque is well over 1000ftlbs at the shaft.

  • whats the exhaust and shrowds all belong too originally?

  • @klesmer

Most of us junky old crop dusters have always refered to them as 985's or 450's.

Supported my family for many years, sitting behind these engines.

    Reckon I'm a dino too.........You might be a dinosaur....... if........LMAO.

  • @Marshall7302 Back in the day, 1hp per 2 cu in was pretty damn good. Especiall for such a large engine.

  • Technically & correctly that is an after fire. Back fire is out the carb.

  • Most of us dinosaurs know them as 985 Pratt's.

  • 450hp or not it cool more power than your car

  • those are reflections on the glass from the control panel
