  • In my personal experience yes. It took me a week or so for the cramps to stop completely. Keep in mind they got progressively less frequent. I still get them once in a blue moon now. I would not worry about a hole. If you do feel horrid pain always go back to the doctor, but if they are mild and tolerable then you are probably just experiencing normal pain.

  • Well I I am pretty sure that I also said that everyone was different. If I did not I will say it now. I am sorry it was so bad for you, but I am sure that not every one has it as bad. For me it was great thing and has made my life much easier. I know in my own personal story it was not bad and I have no reason to scare people away from it. It has been over a year for me now and I feel very liberated. I have had next to none in side effects. Only problem I have is the very rear cramping.

  • I am getting the mirena IUD installed in 2 days. I am a little scared about the pain. I was prescribed cervix softener vaginal pills to take the night before the installation, do you think it will help with the pain?

Thank you for the video, it was very helpfull.

  • @traumasavior you should be fine. The most painful part the getting the instruments past the cervix from what I have heard and felt. The softener should help with the pain. I know if I made it threw the pain with out that then you will be just fine with it . Don't stress to much cause the pain is fleeting If you can hand the pain for just a few minutes you will be fine. Good luck and just relax.

  • Well everyone is differnet gailna26. I am sorry it was so bad for you. Not everyone is the same. Personally I love it. I have had no problems what so ever and feel great. I personally hated the pill. I could never remember it and it gave me Perma PMS. I was like queen bitch all the time. But then again I guess this is why there are so many forms of birth control out there. Not all types work for everyone.

  • most women gain weight with mirena skinny girl saying this. now skinny girl with a little pot belly. my mirena has moved out of place gotta wait months until appt with specialist. been so sick i've been in bed since Nov its now June. I thought it was great because no period after 3 months been in 2 years occaisional spotting. But was told my problems not mirena related. Dont beleave that i think if if moves it makes you sick. I NOW HATE THIS THING AND WANT IT OUT NOW ! BUT NO GOTTA WAIT.

  • @shmacme I am sorry to hear about your problems with the Marina. I know that I have not found it to be true. I have gained some weight with the Marina in, but I still do not think it is the cause. I have noticed that I was eating more unhealthy food and I say that is to blame. I have also not been sick. I know that everyone is different though and I hope that you feel better soon. I don't think you have to wait if you want it removed I think you can if you go to your doc. Get better soon!

  • I'm 23, have Endometriosis, and had Mirena inserted 1 hour ago. Beforehand, I had 800 mg of Ibuprofen, and Valium. On my cycle, so cervix was slightly dilated.

It was the most painful experience of my life. Clamping of the cervix was uncomfortably, actual insertion of IUD was AWFUL! I've got a high pain threshold. For most women, it may not be too bad. Unfortunately, my endometriosis exacerbated the pain. I may not have screamed, but the nurses outside could definitely hear me! No babies 4 me!

  • I just had mine done yesterday and I'm still having cramps. Not bad but they hurt. I have a friend that had one and it ripped a hole in her uterus. I'm scared about that. But why do I still have cramps almost 24hrs at 10:40am. Is this normal?

  • i didnt find it painful just uncomfortable

  • i been on the iud for 11 yrs with out my period when i was younger i was on the depo shot when i was in my teens------- my daughter is 11yearsold i dont wont any more kids she is my only child the iud is painful i go back to the doctor real soon----i advise each young lady to wait to see what birth control is right them the iud is os freaking painful this is my third one

  • i disagree completely with you saying 'they are in there out there done' i had my IUD fitted over a year ago. The day i had it done i fainted twice, i spewed i couldnt eat for a week, and releasing my bowls felt like i wash pushing a tenis ball through a hose pipe. For people that are thinking of using this contraception i suggest anything but this ! I go severe pain every month from my period and i cannot cope with it anymore, and will be having it removed this week.

  • This is my second time on the Marina and the first time I didnt gain any weight I actually started to Lose the weight=) I have 2 little girls and it was still a little bit pain full for me but it subsided pretty fast! I have tried all the pills and I have also tried the patch and Have Gotten Migrains with all of them and found that The Marina I do not get Migrains with it and I actually feel healther with it probably because I dont feel so sick. I know that my period stopd last time I had it in!
