Stage 11: Gear Tower. I never played through Castlevania III so this tune didn't stand out for me. However! we can deduce from.. some internet infos- that this is a remake of a Castlevania III tune. The reason I never played Castlevania III is that it never came out in Australia. I vaguely recall that it was summat to do with the content... ? ... but Jebus knows why. Ah well, I had a go in later years when I got it from teh interwebs.
