Actually, there would be a deduction if the arms could objectively be straighter (e.g., 180 degrees from hand to shoulder). The standard isn't subjective (e.g., NOT: my arms only straighten to 160 degrees from hand to shoulder, so there's no deduction).
If the arms could not be objectively straighter (e.g., = 180 degrees from hand to shoulder), than there would be no deduction.
lol that commentator was an idiot when he said about one of the Chinese performers on rings that his "arms could be straighter" haha... his elbows were locked, they can't be *straighter*.. some people just naturally have more straighter arms with locked elbows than others, there's nothing he could have done about it... there's not deduction for that.

actually vaults done nowadays are as high and higher, it just looked really high because it was an easier vault and he had time to drop out of it
