Early on in the race we all hear news that nobody wanted to hear. Benny had stayed back in North Carolina to be with his wife Connie who is very ill.
Unfortunatly we find out she had passed away.

RIP Connie

*I post this mainly because it was something during the race that happened that people would be interested in.
Im not glorifying it in anyway.
Perhaps we can now take some comfart in knowing that they are now together again.

  • RIP Connie and BP

  • This is the type of thing that is missing from NASCAR and its race coverage today....compassion and heart....Bob, Benny, and Ned were the BEST broadcast team ever! I miss them...and the coverage has never been the same without them.

  • They flashed a picture saying "1941-1991" and the announcers are going "Ok..the legends race...ahem...ok...yeah"

    Then they start talking.

  • Lol at the comment earlier about commerical free coverage like this........this is obviously a raw satellite feed

  • battallionfan888--

How did she die; was that ever announced on the air or did they talk about it?

  • Todays announcers are not in the same league as Bob,Benny, and Ned !

  • And it all started with 'experimentation'...

  • connie Parsons 1941-1991

  • As great as the drivers were in the 90's, ESPN's coverage was great. It wasn't always technically perfect but Bob Jenkins, Benny Parsons and Ned Jarrett were so great together. Every time a death occured, whether it was announced before that week's race, during the race, whatever - they handled it with class. Benny's announcement of JD McDuffie's death in 1991 is probably the classiest thing I've ever heard from a sports announcer.

  • connie parsons, she had a NASCAR Video dedicated in her honor as well, in the video they had highlights from the Winston Legends Race, Joe Weatherly was profiled, and Riverside Road Course was also profiled as well as an interview with Chad Little when he drove for his father's race team. It also had Women Drivers in NASCAR and profiled legends of the Modified Era Richie Evans and Red Byron NASCAR's first champion.

  • Bob Benny and Ned were the best team i agree rip and benny and his loving wife connie..

  • @JohnnyLargecock Still, that would be cool to have anyways
