i don`t know about that... i mean i`ve listened to all the songs on "the power station years" that could have been about her..and what i got from those is in my previous comment.plus:something tells me that "dirty little scret" could be about that relationship of theirs from hs!IF ONLY THERE WAS AN INTERVIEW WITH JON EXPLAINING WHAT REALLY HAPPENED!! but just think about it : why would a healthyminded man literally GIVE AWAY his girl to his (womanizer) friend?! it doesn`t make any sense to me

@aroselj, the story was true what you wrote but not the part that they dated in secret. Jon had feelings for Dorothea but knew that she was Bobbys girlfriend and so he didn't do anything but they just talked all the phone all the time. Then Bobby went away to join the army and asked Jon to take care of Dorothea, that's when everything happened between Jon and Dorothea. After Bobby left.

well...the story doesn`t really go like that...jon and dot met at a history class( although i`m pretty sure they`ve seen each other before that) in their senior year...and before they knew it they fell in love.however dot was already dating JON`S BEST FRIEND bobby and jon didn`t know about that...so anyway...they ha d a fight .and all that ..but in the end jon understood the situation and decided that they could date in secret..and that`s exactly what they did! and that`s what the song is about
