Chapter 12:
I woke up to see Nick sitting in the chair next to my bed.
Nick: Morning.
- Where's Dad, Nick?
Nick: He left us.
- What?
Nick: He's gone.
- Oh. Do you know where he is?
Nick: No.
- *tears coming to eyes*
Nick: No. No. Don't cry. Don't give him that satisfaction.
- *Sniffles* My head hurts.
Nick: *laughs* It should you drank an entire case of beer!
Joe: *Walking by* She did What!?!?
Nick: Nothing.
Joe: You said she was drinking beer!
Nick: Yea... Root Beer!
Joe: mhmm...
- It's true. I love Root Beer.
Joe: Whatever. *leaves*
- *Laughs* Thanks.
Nick: It's been awhile since I've heard you laugh.
- I know.
Nick: Don't you ever do this to yourself again Annabelle.
- Trust me. I've learned my lesson.
Nick: That ring was from him wasn't it?
- Yea. *tells the story of the ring*
Nick: Wow. I should be taking notes for me and Selena.
- *giggles*
Nick: We should be getting down for breakfast.
- Yea. Have you checked your levels?
Nick: I'll be fine.
- Are you sure?
Nick: I promise.
Kevin: Belle! I have a surprise for you!
- What?
Kevin: An audition! Your old theatre company called!
- I'm not doing shows anymore.
Joe: Yes!
Kevin: Joe!
Joe: What?
Kevin: Anyways, why are you quitting?
- I just can't go back there and be reminded of him everyday.
Joe: understandable.
- I'm going swimming.
Kevin: All right.

?: Belle?
- Ruth?
Ruth: Hey!
- I haven't seen you since we did Chicago!
Ruth: I know! Hey I heard about Chris. I'm so sorry!
- Thank you. It means a lot.
Ruth: Are you auditioning for the next show?
- No. I can't go back there.
Ruth: We're going to miss you.
- I'll be there opening night to see the show!
Ruth: Alright. Well I have to go.
- Alright. Bye!
?: No way. Bellie Boo?
- *turns around to see a guy* Nathan??
Nathan: Whoa. You've grown up a little since eighth grade.
- Yea...
Nathan: How are you?
- Ummm... It's complicated...
Nathan: Come on... I'm your ex-boyfriend... You can tell me anything.
- *Giggles*
Nathan: I miss that giggle.
- *smiles* I have to go.
Nathan: Can I have your number?
- Yea. *writes down number* *goes home*
I went back to the house. When I walked inside I saw chaos. My mom was hysterically crying and Joe was on the phone freaking out.
- What's going on?
Mom: *Crying* It's Nick...
My stomach dropped. I turned the corner into our living room and saw Nick lying unconscious on the floor.
Kevin: *Patting Nick's face* Nick! Wake up Nick! Damn it!!!
- *Tears coming to eyes* I told him to check his blood sugar. I told him. But he wouldn't listen he said he would be fine! He promised he would be okay!
Kevin: Annabelle...
- It's my fault! Everything is always my fault!
*Paramedics arrive and are giving Nick CPR*
Kevin: *hugs Belle tight* It's not your fault. He's the one who didn't check his levels.
- (To the paramedics) Is he gonna be alright?
Paramedic 1: We're not sure at the moment.
*Nick's heart stops*
Paramedic 2: We're losing him!
- *hysterically crying* NO!!!
Kevin: *Takes Belle by arm and starts to pull her from the room*
- *Fights to get out of Kevin's grasp*
Kevin: Belle!
- Nick! Please wake up!
Paramedic 1: He's not breathing!
- *Still in Kevin's tight grasp* NICK!!!
Kevin: Belle!! Let them do their job!
Paramedic 2: *Stops CPR* I'm calling it. 2:10 p.m.
- NO! Save him! Your job is to save him! *Breaks away from Kevin's grasp* *Goes to Nick and starts to do chest compressions* Nick!
Kevin: *Tears coming to eyes* Belle he's gone.
Nick: *Gasps for air*
Belle: *smiles* Nicky??
Paramedic 2: Ugh.. Let's get him in the ambulance and get him on oxygen.
-*Watches Nick leave on a gurney*
Mom: Let's get to the hospital.
*Get to the hospital*
Dr.: Nick Jonas?
Mom: Yes. I'm his mother.
Dr. I'm afraid he is unconscious at the moment and we aren't sure when or even if he'll wake up.
Mom: Can I see him?
Dr.: Of course.
*Mom Walks into his room*
