Was Atlantis Located in Ancient Greece?

In this Lost Worlds episode, we learn of new evidence that Atlantis is located in Crete, Greece. The Palace of Knossos was recently found on the island. The palace is the closest match found yet to Plato's descriptions of Atlantis.

  • Crete is an independent country it is not Greece, it is just located near Greece. And the palace is called Knossos, not Cyanosis (which is the blue color of the skin after death by asyphixiation)! This is not the only Youtube documentaray about Crete or Santorini--please refer to others.

  • @Allison13097 Crete is NOT an independent country. Crete is a Greek Island.

As for the name of the palace, you are right. The name is Knossos and not Cyanosis which is true that is the color of the skin as a result of low [Oxygen].

This is a bad description from History Channel which i'm fixing right now...

    Thank you.

  • I'm starting to believe that Atlantis is just a name given to the entire world at one time in history when we had amazing knowledge everywhere, until it was almost completely wiped out by a pole shift, or something. I think this explains the Bible's flood story AND the Atlantis story at the same time. Because so few survived there was nobody that could restore everything to the way it was, it took all these years just to get back to the level we're at now.

  • cont'd...It just doesn't make any sense to me that one area of the world - that was undoubtedly doing extensive trade with the rest of the world - would have been so much more advanced than other parts of the world. Atlantis is probably just a metaphor for world civilization at a particular time in human history, a time that came to an abrupt end due to natural disaster, like a pole shift.

  • @hotgreek I don't know as much as I would like to know, but a little. True, they were extremely knowledgeable for their time (ancient Greece, that is). They were key in discovering magnetics, which is crucial to understanding a lot of other things in this mysterious earth of ours.

  • @Allison13097 What the fuck are you talking about?..CRETE IS PART OF GREECE,YOU IGNORANT!..CLOSE YOUR MOUTH NOW!

  • @Dr1Canuckchuck- I say that too, something blasted our asses back to the stone age. The Bible and most other Holy Texts state there was a flood and before the flood there was ironworking.

  • this is really cool!

  • @Allison13097 it's so intriguing, I believe the city will be found one day due to all the evidence which is being mounted by scientists. I can see the similarity between the names Atlas and Atlantic, thank you for pointing this out to me, as I didn't realise this is the origin of the name for the Atlantic.

  • The Atlantic was given it's name after the greek legend of Atlas, a mythical giant believed to support the entire world on his shoulders.

  • So the story of Atlantis was invented by Egyptians but was Atlantis in Greece?

  • Plato may of heard about Atlantis in his time and when this lost world was found by people of his time, he believed that it was Atlantis. But it isn't really Atlantis possibly? An imaginative radical theory: This lost world of santoini and crete could possibly be the remanence of what is described in the bible as sodom and gomorrah? Atlantis may of existed well before the time of crete and santoini and due to reasons it has not yet been found. Atlantis was sunk during the era of Noahs Ark? :)
