  • what is that "retard" at 4:03

  • its an aural reminder that aircraft is in landing configuration less than 50 feet and that the thrust lever is still in the climb detent with speed decaying below the approach speed. action would be to retard the thrust lever to idle.

on a manually flown approach this is a reminder. on an auto land however this would be a command.

  • the noise is the vibration picked up by the mike during landing roll.

Yes we could use more lights....

  • @kelmaks Sorry, I'm not a pilot. I'll take your word for it, thanks! Just a question, do you mean that MNL doesn't have ILS for a long time already? Also, do you know what types of airplanes are allowed to land on 13? Are the narrow bodies allowed to land there also? That would mean a LAHSO before rwy 6/24 right? Thank you very much!

  • @omar2726 If you are a pilot then I'm sure you haven't operated into MNL for the last couple of years. A lot of things have changed: there isn't an ILS facility in operation, RS NDB has been decommissioned, MNL ground is no longer 121.9, Rwy 13 now has an instrument approach and terminal 3 is now operational. Unfortunately some things have not changed as taxiway C is still in a shameful state.

  • @kelmaks Are you sure? I am quite sure that MNL has ILS on Runway 06/24. There are many other reasons why a VOR/DME was used. Runway 13/31 doesn't have ILS, but that runway is seldom used for landing anyway.

  • @francis2383

the lights setting depends on the PF (that is the Pilot Flying). Whatever suits him better. Could be full bright, dim or none at all. But its always best to have lighting similar to the condition of flight so your eyes adjust better.
