Yeah i read that in the German version he is Swiss. But I think of him as German considering that is the way he is supposed to be.

No, he's German, it's mentioned several times in the Simpsons that he is from Germany. The fact he speaks with a Swiss accent in the German version was probably just to make him more foreign.
